The LGFA is inviting clubs to express their interest in participating in the Gaelic Games Club Coaching Community of Practice (CoP) Programme, an exciting coach education initiative designed to support and develop coaches within their own club environment.
The Gaelic Games Coach Pathway mirrors the Gaelic Games Player Pathway, providing coaches with the knowledge, skills and support they need to help players develop at every stage of their journey. Through a range of learning opportunities, the Coach Pathway ensures coaches receive the right learning at the right time – ‘just in time, just for me’.
What is a Club Coaching Community of Practice?
A Club Coaching Community of Practice (CoP) is a peer-supported learning network where coaches within a club come together to share ideas, experiences, resources and good practice.
Rather than relying solely on formal courses, this initiative encourages clubs to take ownership of their own coach development by creating an environment where coaches learn from one another, discuss challenges, exchange ideas and continually improve their coaching.
The programme is designed to:
- Develop coaching knowledge and confidence.
- Encourage collaboration between coaches across all age groups.
- Share practical coaching ideas and resources.
- Support player-centred coaching.
- Strengthen coaching structures within clubs.
What Previous Participants Said
One club described the programme as bringing people together around shared interests while creating opportunities to discuss coaching strategies, player retention and club development.
Another participant said the Community of Practice:
“Secured a space to discuss our club coaching structure, giving a voice to more coaches.”
