Volunteer
Recruitment
Football is a team sport — on and off the pitch.
The Heart of Every Club
Just as football is a team sport on the pitch, it's also a team sport off it.
Volunteers are at the heart of every club. The time, energy and commitment they give is invaluable, and it's important that this contribution is recognised and appreciated.
A volunteer is someone who freely shares their skills, energy and enthusiasm to support others, without expecting anything in return. Volunteering should be rewarding, enjoyable, and — above all — fun.
Why People Volunteer
People get involved for many different reasons — here are some of the most common.
They Were Simply Asked
Sometimes all it takes is someone reaching out and asking. A direct personal ask is one of the most powerful ways to bring a new volunteer on board. Don't underestimate the power of simply asking someone to get involved.
Friends & Family Are Involved
Many volunteers get involved because their friends, family members or children are already part of the club. A sense of community and belonging draws people in, and once they're involved, they often stay for years.
Meet New People
Volunteering is a fantastic way to meet new people, build connections and become part of something bigger. Clubs are communities, and volunteering is one of the best ways to feel truly part of that community.
What is a Volunteer?
A volunteer is someone who freely shares their skills, energy and enthusiasm to support others — without expecting anything in return.
Volunteers are the backbone of every GAA and LGFA club in the country. Without them, our clubs simply could not function. From coaches to committee members, from gate stewards to social media managers — every contribution counts.
Volunteering should be rewarding, enjoyable, and — above all — fun. When people feel valued and appreciated, they stay involved and bring others with them.
"Football is a team sport — on and off the pitch. Volunteers are the people who make it all possible."
