Round 1 of the U16A Championship took place on Saturday afternoon, with six inter-county fixtures scheduled throughout the province. The competition provides a key development platform for young players, offering high-level championship experience at an important stage of their football journey.

Waterford were among the counties in action as the Munster campaign officially began. All U16A fixtures were scheduled for 2pm throw-in, with the exception of the Cork v Limerick game in Banteer 4G, which commenced at 3.30pm.
Running alongside the championship games, the Sharon O’Keeffe Tournament also began this weekend. These fixtures provided additional competitive opportunities for developing squads, with games throwing in at 12 noon before the main championship encounters.
The opening round signals the beginning of several weeks of competitive provincial football, with teams aiming to build momentum and secure progression through their respective groups.
